Have you been discriminated against in your job, housing, or for service because of your perceived gender identity? We'd like to hear your story.

Have you been discriminated against in your a job because you don’t fit expected gender norms (i.e., you are a woman who doesn’t want to wear a skirt to work or a man who has been told you’re too effeminate to greet customers)? Have you faced discrimination in housing – such as renting an apartment – because you are in the process of transitioning or have transitioned from one gender to another? Has a taxi driver refused you service because of your perceived gender identity?

Discrimination because of one’s gender identity is hurtful and insidious. In some cases, it results in someone losing a job or their house, leaving them to struggle with basic survival of a roof over their head or the ability to put food on the table for their family.

We’d like to hear from you if you’ve faced discrimination because of your gender identity. We’ll keep it anonymous if you’d like, but we’d like to hear – and then tell – your story to help illustrate why this type of discrimination has no place in Montgomery County.
